Day 6 – April 4

After listening to the NOAA radio weather and reviewing Windfinder, it does not look good to run on the outside to Ft Lauderdale (via Port Everglades), so it a slog through the 15+ bridges from Lake Worth to Ft Lauderdale.  We were intending to leave before 7, and we actually left a little after 7, but it put us behind the schedule to get us to Ft Lauderdale.  We made it through the first 4 or 5 bridges with hardly any waiting, but then we hit one bridge with a delay, and that was it for getting to our desired destination.  Beth reviewed the Waterways Guide and found a place about 7 miles and at least 1 ½ hours closer in Pompano Beach.  We got to the Sands Harbor Resort and Marina, sounds fancier than it sounds, but the price was right.  The slip was next to some offices, which were probably originally part of the resort.  The building blocked the wind, forcing us to run the AC.  The showers were ok, and that’s a stretch.

We are always amazed at the houses along the stretch from Palm Beach to Ft Lauderdale.  Besides being large, there is usually a boat / yacht parked in front.

We had spinach salad for dinner and then went for a walk to the beach.  We walked out to the pier and watched a couple of boats motor south.  We were glad we weren’t out there, as it was still blowing hard out of the south.
