Day 4 – April 2

Off we go to Peck Lake, my nemesis last year.  Last year I ran aground and later that night we ran out of water.  ARG.  We’re hoping for a better outcome this year, as we leave the dock around 10 am.  We are cruising nicely down the ICW with a lot of traffic going north.  Around the south Hutchinson Island bridge, two motor yachts coming north were taking the right hand portion of the channel forcing me out of the channel.  I ran over two sand bars before making my way back into the channel, as I forced the second boat to move over.  Both had over a 100 yards of channel available to their starboard.
We get to Peck Lake and the anchorage is busy, even at 3 pm. We find a place to set the anchor near the channel. After assuring that we were not going anywhere, we dingy to the beach. When we were anchoring, I pointed out a sunken boat near the beach. I overhear from the “water taxi” driver (brings people from the yacht club across from Peck Lake to the beach) that the boat sunk about 10 days ago. We’re glad it’s not our boat.  (Our boat is in the background.)

We walk south, but are forced to turn around as they are dredging the St Lucie inlet, and dumping the sand on the beach.  We walk back north gathering a few shells, and then back to the boat.  The ocean water is in the high 70's and is comfortable.  No waves though.

As we are getting ready to dingy back to the boat, we watch as several young adults dive off the platform near the beach. Of cource there is a "Danger Keep Off".

The weather is warm and during our shower, I have the hot water off and am just using the cold.  Dinner is spinach salad, as it is too warm for pasta.   We turn in and around midnight the drag alarm goes off.  The boat had swung a full 360 with the tide and the wind; the GPS coordinates that I had taken earlier were still good, so I knew we were not dragging.
