Day 5 – April 3

With a not so restful night sleep, we are up around 6:30.  We up anchor at around 8 and motor south.  There is very little wind, and the water is like glass.  We are heading for a series of 7 draw bridges, most of which are not on demand.  This stretch of 6 bridges takes close to 2 ½ hours, as they are not on a schedule where we can get from one to the next by its opening time.  (We tend to miss it by about 5 minutes, so we are always waiting for the next opening.)  When we hit the Jupiter Federal bridge, there was a disabled sail boat, which was had just been hooked to Tow Boat US.  We followed them through this bridge, and then the captain of the Tow Boat kept calling the next bridge to get an opening, even off schedule.  We were able to follow them through this stretch and made it to Little Lake Worth by noon, over an hour ahead of schedule.

We put the dingy in the water and see if we can get to Publix for some fresh fruits and veggies.  Unlike home, our refrigerator is about ¼ the size.  We were aware that the bridge which had an area to tie the dingy to go ashore is under construction.  We watched another boater go towards where we used to tie up and saw that he wasn’t at the normal place, and went under the bridge.  Voila, there were at least 7 dingies tied up.  I let Beth off (she climbed over a boat tied near the shore) and I walked the boat to where I could tie and lock the dingy.  I put my flip flops on as there were a couple of pipes and other debris in the water.  We did the Publix thing, got fruit and veggies and some salmon for the grill.  We did the climb back down the rocks and I slogged through the water, retrieved the dingy, and put the provisions and Beth back in the dingy.  Needless to say, I washed off when I got back to the boat.  When we first got to the anchorage, there were hardly any boats around; by the time we returned, we had several close by.
We grilled the salmon along with onions for the steamed spinach.  We had a nice dinner and watched a lovely sunset.
