This was one of the coldest days and I ended up putting on several layers. Even had to add my running tights under my running pants to be warm!!!!

Day 6 - 1/7/11
We decided that we would try to get to Las Olas Marina in Fort Lauderdale, about 55 miles away. We were moving shortly before 7 am, long before sunrise. We did have an beautiful sunrise, but knew that this day would be a push. With Dennis and Mary in the lead, we headed south. Bridges, bridges, and more bridges was the theme of the day. It was a push to try and time our runs between bridges, because if you missed one, it set your schedule back a half an hour. We made nearly every bridge and arrived in Fort Lauderdale shortly before 5. Once tucked in our slip, we spent the next half hour enjoying a long shower, not worrying about how much water were we using. Beth was able to wash and condition her hair, a bit of luxury!!!
I grilled some Boca burgers, and Dennis and Mary stopped by later to discuss our next potential crossing timeframe. After a couple of beers, popcorn, and other post dinner snacks, we had a plan. We would head south to No Name harbor and wait there to cross to Bimini. This crossing unlike the crossing from Lake Worth can be made entirely during the day. The Lake Worth to West End crossing requires a 3 am start to get you there by early afternoon.
