We left out of Wabasso with milder weather. No jacket and sweatshirt, just long sleeve T-shirt. Our fellow sailors, Mary and Dennis left Vero Beach Marina after fixing the thermostat on their engine. We hoped to meet them in Lake Worth, and then cross to the Bahamas, and now we were 1 1/2 hours behind. We agreed to anchor in Peck Lake that evening.
When we got to Peck Lake, the anchorage was pretty full. We decided to move a little south so as to not be on top of everyone. We were in 14 feet of water and then 2 feet. Yes, I put us on a sand bar, and we were not getting off. Beth called Sea Tow and within 5 minutes of attaching his boat to ours we were free. We moved to deeper water and anchored. Lesson Learned, new anchorage, have Beth steer while I watch the depths from the bow!!! Here is Sea Tow extricating us from the sand bar.
The next calamity was running out of fresh water. I thought I had filled both tanks, but our usage and not checking to see if the tanks were truly full lead to no more fresh water. (We had drinking water, but no water for dishes, etc.)
